Your weekly dose of Sunday bass, beats, eats and treats.
Music curated by DJ MikeE [Propa, UPFM - NZ] and guests
Every Sunday from 7pm
Apoteka Bar, Lounge & Labrotory
33/28 Sukhimvit Soi 11, Bangkok
The Concept:
To provide Bangkok with a weekly sunday night that combines great food, craft beers, hospitality and proper, deep underground music for a more discerning clientele.
Did someone say craft beer?
As well as the usual selection of beers and cocktails a carefully selected range of boutique craft beer is available thanks to beervana including Rogue and Anderson Valley Ale as well as a full selection of local thai & imported beer, wine and cocktails and elixers.
What do we play?
We aren’t restricted to any one genre or sound, except for it being deep, soulful bass music, expect anything from deep house, future garage, liquid drum and bass to underground electronica with live sax, drums or guest vocalists. Its all about quality – our DJs aren’t jukeboxes, they are curators …
===MikeE [UPFM, NZ] ===
MikeE plays other peoples music, and drinks. Occasionally he goes to the bathroom, or harasses the bar staff. But usually he drinks. Did I mention he plays other peoples music. I hear thats what the cool kids do.

He has supported a bunch of aritsts in NZ and the abroad including: Ben UFO, Om Unit, Addison Groove, L-Vis 1990, Mosca, Ikonika, Funkystepz, French Fries, Boddika, Pinch, Doc Daneeka, Roska, Jakes, Headhunter, Ghettozoid, Cookie Monsta, Slum Dogz, Flux Pavilion, Balkansky, Mampi Swift and MCI3, DJ Zinc, Spy, Nero Foreign Beggars, Trolley Sntacha and a load more as well as playing at Festivals in New Zealand (PHAT, Rhythm & Vines, Easter Weekender), Croatia (Dimensions Festival) & Thailand (Rhythm & Sands/The Beach Village).

Big changes are afoot at the Sick Disco HQ. You may have noticed over the last month some great new content being posted up on our Facebook page – it’s all thanks to our new soon-to-be Promoter / Man In Charge Fred Willis A.K.A Safari Boy.
Over the last month we have been training him up and subjecting him to the rigorous training required to become head of everything Sick Disco. His enthusiasm, knowledge and skill as a DJ have ensured him a happy home every Saturday night as he continues to bring new ideas and a fresh outlook that is coveted in such a small, competitive scene.
Come January you will be left in his capable hands so if it’s guestlist you’re after or if you wish to stay updated through these e-mails or if you’d just like to say hello – please mail him on disco@cassettenine.com
Fred is already instigating some exciting new changes – in the next few weeks you will see new ways to connect with Sick Disco – from the new blog sickdis.co to a brand spanking new Soundcloud and Twitter. Although it’s early days yet – you can expect music, mixes, info and all things (quality) dance music related to pop up here.
Over December we will be celebrating a successful transition from Sick Disco promotion under The Indoor Kids umbrella as current Sick Disco promoter MTron (A.K.A Melissa Goodfellow) and Champagne Dance, DC Club and Cassette Nine staple Boomio Sound head off into the big wide world to seek their fortune and to bring DC Club to the far-reaches of the globe.
There’s plenty to celebrate in December with the last Diamond Cutters Club this Saturday and the Cassette X Sick Disco Xmas Party on the 22nd PLUS for those of you stranded in town over the New Year period – we will be doing a special edition Full Moon Party on the 29th with special guests to be announced. For more detail on events this month make sure to check our Facebook page.
We have a $50 bar tab to giveaway – just post up your top tune/gig/music clip of 2012 on the Facebook – we will draw tomorrow. While you’re there, you can also enter our weekly Teapot and doorlist comp. Good luck!
All the very best for you – enjoy your holidays and 2013.
